Using a high voltage microwave oven transformer, I burned fractal patterns in pieces of wood. The transformer was removed from an old microwave oven, and rewired appropriately to act as a "wood burning machine". A photograph I took (above) of a Lichtenberg figure forming in wood was awarded 2nd place in the 2018 Canadian Association of Physicists Art of Physics Competition, High School/CEGEP Category. The photos below show the setup used, and also some Lichtenberg figures that were burned in wood with my setup.
